Launch of RadarSat Rescheduled to October 4th

Launching of the RadarSat spacecraft, which was originally scheduled for Spetember 20th, has been rescheduled to October 4th. A source at the Canadian Space Agency says the 2 week launch delay has occured because the launcher manufacturer, McDonnell Douglas, wishes to review a recent partial failure of the launch vehicle.

The Delta II vehicle in fact has a very clean record with only 3 failures out of 150 launches. The recent partial failure occurred during launch of Koreasat 1 on August 5th. Further details on the Koreasat 1 incident are available at JPL's Space Calendar here.

See the official CSA/NASA press release.
