Russian Interball Tail Probe Launched
The Russian Interball Tail Probe was successfully launched on August 3rd at 2:59 am Moscow time. More information about this mission can be obtained from the Interball site at IKI (the Russian Space Agency).
The Interball mission consists of 2 spacecraft, a Tail Probe and an Auroral Probe. Canadian scientists and the Canadian Space Agency are contributing an Ultra-Violet Auroral Imager (UVAI) to the Interball Auroral Probe. The instrument is similar to ones flown by Canada on the Swedish Viking and Freja missions. The Interball Auroral Probe is planned for launch approximately 6 months from now.
