Who Are We?

Routes is a seven year old, twenty-three person, aerospace and instrument company. We are experts in CCD-based imagers for space science and low-noise instrument readout electronics, aerospace electronics, software and mechanical / thermal design. We also do insightful system studies - some past examples: constraining the cost of small satellites; utility of microsats for environmental monitoring; identification of market niches for optics technologies with respect to future Earth observation instruments. We have developed a reputation for quality work, at reasonable cost, delivered on time.

Engineered Space Science Instruments

Routes is currently building a multi-million dollar space instrument for Sweden's ODIN satellite, which will be launched in 1997. This combined spectrograph and near-infrared imager will measure ozone and various other molecules throughout the 30 - 100 kilometer altitude range. It uses CCD's for the ultraviolet / visible region wavelengths, and Indium-Gallium-Arsenide detectors for near-infrared wavelengths.

Products

Routes sells ModelSat, which is a PC software program that predicts the mass, cost, power and other parameters of satellites. Sales to date have been to the United States, Canada Korea, England and Italy.
Routes Inc. is the agent in Canada for the Swedish Space Corporation's (SSC) Freja-C microsatellite bus, which was first used for SSC's Astrid-A mission, in January 1995.
