| ACTIVITIES / PRODUCTS/ FACILITIES / SERVICES: | PRIOR is a competitive and innovative leader supporting the emergence of leading edge technologies. Being a Spar Aerospace subsidiary gives PRIOR the backing needed to pursue the largest, most strategic opportunities while allowing the flexibility to act as an agile, creative and entrepreneurial company. The company designs, develops and implements real-time systems and software for mission and performance critical environments including aerospace, air traffic management, communications, and defense applications. Expertise includes graphical user interfaces, object-oriented methodologies, embedded and open systems, and new development languages such as C++ and Ada. Building on nearly 20 years experience, the company forms long-term partnerships with clients in the development of systems and is a project oriented and customer-driven organization with a combination of in-house systems development and software consulting carried out at the customer site. The company's expertise in air traffic management software achieved worldwide recognition through the Gander Automated Air Traffic System (GAATS). This state-of-the-art, functionally advanced oceanic system manages all North Atlantic air traffic and sets the standards for other oceanic systems around the world. PRIOR's defense business develops mission critical systems including command and control systems, strategic and tactical communications systems, mission simulation systems, and electronic surveillance and countermeasure systems. PRIOR supported Litton Systems in the development of the TRUMP Combat System for the Canadian Navy. The company is currently developing an improved control and editing system for the Canadian Navy's Radio Teletype System Ship/Shore.
The company also has extensive experience in a wide variety of communication technologies including network management systems, and telecommunications systems, such as analog and digital telephony protocols. PRIOR's systems for private and public communications networks have been chose by industry giants like Bell Northern Research (Nortel), Newbridge Networks and Northern Telecom. A graphical user interface, designed by PRIOR, is used by Nortel to design high-end interactive graphics. |
| SPACE PROJECT PARTICIPATION: | The company designs advanced, software-intensive simulators for the aerospace industry. PRIOR developed the software system for simulating the behaviour of RADARSAT, one of the world's first and most sophisticated operational radar satellites. The company also designed and developed the order desk component of the mission control system (MCS) for RADARSAT. The MCS order desk is a comprehensive and powerful computer graphic technology software tool for accessing RADARSAT imagery.
PRIOR designed and developed a reconfigurable engineering flight simulator, or REFS, for Canadair, a members of Montreal-based Bombardier Aerospace Group. Used by engineers and pilots to simulate and analyze aircraft behaviour under realistic scenarios, REFS modular, turn-key system employs commercial-off-the-shelf software and hardware for real-time response. |
